Is there such a thing as bad branding?

Adidas is possibly proving that indeed there is no such thing as bad branding, or pandering to your audience.  Case in point, this advertisement they are running on facebook.  I’d explain it, but I think you’ll figure it out fairly quickly.  What do you think?
